The sixth round matches of Ethiopian Premier League have been played over the last weekend in the capital and all the regions of the country. The opening match was played in Addis Ababa Stadium between Sebeta Ketema and Wolaita Ditcha(1-0).
Sebeta Ketema, helped by Fitsum’s penalty goal, won three points from the visitors, Bees of Tona. Sebeta have been able to create lots of goal scoring opportunities during the first half. Yet, they could score only one obtained from a penalty.
Fasil Kenema hosted their neighbors Bahir Dar Ketema at the Gondar Stadium and scored three goals. Bahir Dar Ketema were not able transport three foreign players due to grievances for unpaid salary. Thanks to this home victory, Fasil Kenema took the lead from Mekel 70 Enderta.
Ethiopia Bunna dominated the newly promoted Hosaena Ketema in Addis Ababa on Saturday Afternoon. Abdulkerim scored two goals as the brownies punished Hosaena 5-0 just a week after they have managed to secure a goalless away draw against DireDawa.
Despite their goal shy start, the brownies progress to bear the fruits of the evolving team. They showered 9 goals in the last two home matches.
St. George’s win against Mekele 70 Enderta at the Addis Ababa Stadium meant Srdjan’s side needed the victory to return to the summit. Kidus Giorgis had already won only one of the five matches. They were placed next to the relegation zone at only 6 points in 5 matches.
Starved Kidus Giorgis have fielded all the three best strikers in the premier league; Getaneh, Salhadin and Abel. They have missed several goal creating opportunities by Salah and Abel. but could convert only two of them. Salhadin Said and Abel Yalew struck in the second half as Kidus Giorgis reacted to last week’s loss at the Jimma Stadium.
Sidama Bunna, who had clinched a 3-1 victory last week in Southern Derby against Hawassa Ketema have surrendered this week to Dire Dawa on the home soil. Addis Gidey’s goal opener at the 2nd minute made Sidama lead the game. However, only for 9 minutes until Richmond Odong heading equalizes at the 11th minute. The other foreign player Fred Mushinde scored the second goal at the 67th minute to give Dire Dawa very important three points.

The seventh week matches have been played on Tuesday and Wednesday. Sehul Shire, helped by a penalty from Habtamu Shewalem at the 28th minute, has snatched three important points from Sebeta at the Tigrai Stadium
Yohannes Sahile thrashed his former club at the Dire Dawa Stadium (0-2) to reclaim their seat on top of the table and push DireDawa towards the relegation zone. Junias Nanjibu’s double helped Welwalo to go up and lead the table with 14 points.
Hadiya Hosaena registered their first victory on the home soil against Sidama Bunna. Sidama Bunna, last year’s title contenders, lost last week on a home match against DireDawa to strap down to the 8th position.

A one man down Ethiopia Bunna lost to BahirDar (2-3) on Wednesday at the BahirDar stadium. Kassaye’s boys conceded three goals in the first half, have dominated the match despite the result. A progressing team of Kassaye has begun to win the hearts and minds of both its supporters and opponents.
Kidus Giorgis held a goal less draw at the Hawassa National Stadium against the lakers. Kidus Giorgis has still been straggling to win away matches. The horsemen who won Mekele last Sunday have shared points with Hawassa.
